An app for the tech-savvy Muslim

Ramzan Timings (Ramadan), also called Ramadan Timings, is a free-to-download lifestyle app that provides Muslims access to a plethora of features for every possible faith-based need, from self-reflection to celebrating Ramadan, an Islamic event where Muslims enrich their spirituality through charity, prayer, and fasting.

With a user-friendly interface and readable font size, anyone — including Muslims with vision problems — can navigate the Ramadan Timings app with ease. However, accessing the app’s Prayer Timings causes an infinite loading loop, preventing users from tapping the hamburger menu and forcing them to close and relaunch the app.

For Ramadan and beyond

Based on your region, Ramzan Timings (Ramadan) shows the times for Suhoor and Iftar, which are pre-fast and post-fast meals that Muslims consume before dawn and after sunset. It even comes with an alarm system that alerts users to prepare themselves for both meals in advance. However, users have noticed that its poor location-tracking capabilities have led to the app displaying incorrect timings for Suhoor and Iftar.

To ensure accuracy, consider setting your location manually rather than automatically. On the other hand, the app provides all 99 Arabic names of the Islamic God Allah — complete with transliterations, English-translated meanings, and Arabic pronunciations. Moreover, supplications — known as Duah — are provided not just in Arabic, but also in Urdu and English. Ramadan-themed wallpapers are available for downloading and sharing, as well.

There are even Iftar recipes spanning different cuisines, from Indian masala rice to Chinese sweet and sour chicken. For the drawbacks, users will notice that for each major Islamic day — including Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr — the year is set to 2017 rather than the current year. Although the app has a collection of Naat poetry for praising Prophet Muhammad, they are unplayable due to infinite loading.

Some features need polishing

From Suhoor and Iftar timings to recipes, Ramzan Timings (Ramadan) provides practicing Muslims convenient access to every possible faith-based feature from their fingertips. However, this app is not perfect by any means. One notable technical issue is the Infinite loading, which occurs when playing a Naal or tapping Prayer Timings. Not much care is also put on the dates of major Islamic days.
